Ship sizes and water ways

Dunkirkmax, Japanamax – or rather Panamax? The last ship type should rather not be chosen if the ship should pass smaller waterways than the Panama Canal. The sizes of the ship types are often named after the waterways, which they can still pass through due to their size. In addition to width and height, the decisive factor is the draught. However, the length is not so important. Which is why the only factor for the growth of ships is the length. Exception: Only ships of the NOKmay type with a maximum length of 234 may travel through the Kiel Canal.
